TURF 260 Irrigation Design
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
An introduction to concepts and principles of sub-irrigation systems as it applies to various landscape situations including turf and/or ornamental planted areas. Lectures and labs will be conducted in part by various industry representatives who will demonstrate their specific products and its application. Therefore, the student will experience a broad range of "real world" situation which can be applied throughout their career. Lectures and labs will cover basic hydraulics, site analysis, determining water needs, selecting sprinklers, designing systems and estimating costs.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to design and prepare a final irrigation plan for various site situations which will include accurate hydraulics, components and materials to be used.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Obtain accurate site information.
2. Calculate the irrigation requirements.
3. Determine water and power supply.
4. Select and locate sprinklers.
5. Circuit (zone) sprinklers and locate valves and pipe lines.
6. Size pipe and valves – calculate pressure requirements.
7. Estimate potential water hammer problems.
8. Locate the automatic controller and size wire.
9. Finalize the irrigation plan.
10. Do a "take off" (estimate and budget).
TURF 262 Irrigation Installation & Maintenance
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
